What's hard

The model builds fast. The three problems that are left when speed stops being the problem.

The model builds fast. Really fast. That solves the problem most design teams think they have, and leaves three that no tool solves.

Knowing what not to build

When everything is possible, the work is deciding what should not exist. A feature that takes an afternoon to build still takes a year to maintain and a support ticket every week to explain.

The discipline is restraint, and restraint is a judgement call. Nothing in the loop makes it for you.

The habit

The conversation in the hallway still goes uncaptured. Voice notes help when I can use them, and at work I often cannot, for security and privacy reasons.

The tool cannot fix the discipline problem. It can only make the cost of the gap visible.

Trust at the other end

The internal process means nothing if the output still has to feel trustworthy to someone who files paper reports. Geotechnical engineers work in PDFs that get printed and filed. When project data arrives it is an Excel file, structured differently every time.

The interface can be as modern as we like. It still has to be trusted by someone who prints.
